Chess in Guyana is becoming more popular. It is now being played in schools, and tournament are being held more often. Wendell Meusa is The most impressive player in the senior category at present. being the youngest senior player at 16, Taffin Khan has impressively defeated the senior national champion Kriskal Persaud and already has a tournament victory at the senior level. In the Junior category, there is quite a competition for the top. Sham Khan is in full force and is setting the tone in the juniors by getting the top spot since Taffin left that category.Cousin Saieed Ali, Neighbour Rashad Hussain (Both of which Won tourneys this year) and Crystal Khan sister of Taffin Khan is looking like a possible threat for Sham.
